Yue Fei Temple, also known as Yue Tomb, Yue Fei Tomb, is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, West Lake District, Beishan Road, No. 80, is located in Hangzhou Qixia Ridge, the southern foot of the South Song Dynasty, the famous anti-Jin general E Wang Yue Fei’s grave. Yue Fei’s Tomb is divided into three main parts from west to east: Zhonglie Ancestral Hall, Tomb Park and Qizhong Ancestral Hall. The Tomb Park is located in the west to east direction, and Zhonglie Ancestral Hall and Qizhong Ancestral Hall are located in the north to the south direction, and all of them are surrounded by stone blocks. The area of Zhonglie Shrine consists of the gatehouse, the courtyard in front of the shrine, and the main hall of Zhonglie Shrine, which are symmetrically arranged along the north-south axis, and the main hall is at the end of the 23-meter-long road that enters the gatehouse. In the main hall on both sides of the east and west two hips, respectively, is dedicated to the Yue Fei generals Zhang Xian, Niu Gao Lie Wen Hou Ancestral Hall and Auxiliary Wen Hou Ancestral Hall. In the Qizhong Ancestral Hall, west of the Zhonglie Ancestral Hall, there are statues of Yue Fei’s five sons, Yun, Lei, Lin, Zhen and Ting in the east hiatus, and statues of his five daughters-in-law and his daughter, Yinyuan, in the west hiatus.
To the left of Yue Fei’s Tomb is Yue Yun’s Tomb, which is surrounded by a stone fence, on which a couplet of “righteousness and wickedness are the same as ice and charcoal since the ancient times, and reputation and destruction are judged to be false and true nowadays” is engraved on the front column of the stone fence. The north and south of the cemetery in front of the wall each has a gallery of monuments, displaying a total of 125 stone monuments through the ages. The north gallery displays Yue Fei’s poems, zhangzha, handwritten letters, portrait monuments, etc. The south gallery is the descendants of Yue Fei’s tomb of poems, offerings and restoration of the tomb of the inscription.
Tomb Road on both sides of a variety of stone carvings left over from the Ming Dynasty, counting down a pair of figurines for civil officials, military figurines of two pairs of stone horses, stone sheep, stone tiger each pair, two by two, together constitute a group of stone statues. Along the road there is a Jingzhong cypress pavilion, pavilion display eight sections of cypress tree about 120 million years above the fossil, its age than the Southern Song Dynasty cypress is much larger, paleontology known as the “silicified wood”.
The main hall of Zhonglie Temple is a wooden structure building with a heavy eaves and hermetic roof, and a plaque of “the heart shows the sky” hangs between the eaves, which was rewritten by Marshal Ye Jianying in 1979. Inside the hall, there are many famous writers of plaques and couplets, in the center of the Yue Fei statue, statue above the cursive “return to my river and mountain” gold plaque is rumored to be Yue Fei’s handwriting.
Outside the main hall of the Qizhong Ancestral Temple is the damaged cultural relics outdoor exhibition area, focusing on the display of the relevant stone damaged cultural relics collected over the years. The Qizhong Ancestral Hall was opened as the Yue Fei Memorial Hall in 1984, which is divided into three exhibition rooms, collecting, organizing and displaying a variety of relevant historical facts and materials. The third exhibition room displays a stone figurine of the Southern Song Dynasty, which was unearthed in 1979 during the excavation of Yue Fei’s tomb.
